Keith Appleby
I work with wood, mainly producing hollowed sculptural forms which I create using a lathe and often combined with carving using a variety of hand tools. My work seeks to explore the natural patterns, shapes and textures found in the wood. I rarely sketch out ideas in advance preferring to develop forms inspired by what I uncover during the process of turning. I think my approach can best be described as ‘form over function’.
